Armed Police Force (APF) club got better off Tribhuwan Army Club (TAC) on the opening day of the PM Cup National One Day Tournament. From the winning position, Army lost eight wickets for just 21 runs to face 56 runs loss.
Chasing a total of 220 runs, Arjun Saud and Bhim Sharki departed quickly as Army were down to 47/2 in the ninth over. Rohit Paudel (51) and Hari Chauhan (65) then shared 95 runs for the third wicket to boost TAC’s inning. Kishore Mahato sent back both batters in the 25th over to bring back APF in the contest. Army then collapsed and lost the next six wickets for just 20 runs.
Amar Singh Routela grabbed four wickets to wrap up Army for 163 in 32.1 overs. Kamal Singh Airee also pocketed three wickets. Apart from Paudel and Chauhan’s half-century, no other batters could cross the double-digit figure.
Earlier, Electing to bat first at TU Cricket Ground, APF managed 219 runs before being bowled out with 2.2 overs spare. Pradeep Airee scored 71 runs, and Sundeep Jora added 50 runs. Bhuvan Karki also contributed 26 runs. Bikram Sob was the pick of a bowler for the Army grabbing four wickets. Shahab Alam and Kushal Malla also picked up two wickets each.
Nepal Police Club also registered a mammoth win over Bagmati Province on the opening day. Dipendra Singh Airee was the star, notching up a century and picking up three wickets.
