Tribhuwan Army Club (TAC) has secured a thrilling win over the Armed Police Force (APF) Club in the 22nd match of the Men’s PM Cup. In a closely contested departmental derby at the Extra Tech Oval Army grabbed a three-wicket victory and stretched their winning run to five matches.
After winning the toss, TAC elected to field, and their bowlers justified the decision by restricting APF to 141 runs in 36.3 overs. APF’s top order batters were dismissed quickly and were 11/3. Sundeep Jora was the lone fighter, scoring 65 runs. Apart from him, no other batters made a significant contribution. The standout bowler for TAC was Aakash Chand, who delivered an impressive spell, taking four wickets. He was well-supported by Sompal Kami who claimed three.
Chasing a modest target of 142 runs, TAC faced early setbacks, losing the openers cheaply. The wickets continued to fall at regular intervals and they were down to 44/5 and sooner 87/7. However, a crucial partnership between Sompal Kami and Kushal Malla shifted the momentum in TAC’s favour. They added 58* runs to ensure Army’s win in 42.5 overs. Sompal remained unbeaten with a patient 22 runs, while Kushal scored 31 runs.
Rohit Paudel, Kamal Singh Airee and Amar Routela picked up two wickets each for APF.
This victory marked TAC’s fifth consecutive win in the tournament, maintaining their unbeaten streak and solidifying their position in the points table. Conversely, APF faced their second loss in five matches.
