Oman has suffered a ten-wicket loss against Sri Lanka in their third match of the Cricket World Cup Qualifier. This is also the first loss for Oman in the tournament, while Sri Lanka has bagged back-to-back wins.
Invited to bat first at Queens Sports Club, Oman were rattled out for mere 98 runs in 30.2 overs. They were in a pitiful situation of 21 for four in the powerplay. Jatinder Singh and Ayaan Khan shared 52 runs for the fifth wicket before Wanindu Hasaranga destroyed Oman with a triple-wicket maiden in the 21st over.
Only Ayaan Khan (43), Jatinder Singh (21) and Fayaz Butt (13*) could score a double-digit figure for Oman. Four batters were dismissed for a duck.
For Sri Lanka, Hasaranga picked up a five-wicket haul (7.2-2-13-5). Lahiru Kumara also pocketed three wickets.
In response, Sri Lankan openers took only 15 overs to chase the target. Dimuth Karunaratne hammered 51-ball 61, whereas Pathum Nissanka scored 37 runs from 39 balls.
Sri Lanka bagged a humungous 175-run win against UAE in the previous match. Meanwhile, Oman defeated Ireland and UAE.
