Darius, 28, playing his third T20I match smashed six sixes off Nalin Nipiko’s bowling, accumulating a staggering 39 runs, the most in the history of men’s T20I, surpassing the famous 36-run feat achieved by Yuvraj Singh at the inaugural ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in 2007 and more recent efforts from Kieron Pollard (2021), Nicholas Pooran (2024), Dipendra Singh Airee (2024) and India’s Rohit Sharma and Rinku Singh who combined for 36 against Afghanistan earlier this year.
His extraordinary performance didn’t stop there, as he also clinched the record for the highest individual contribution to a team’s total in a T20I match. This unprecedented feat marked the first time a team had scored more than 36 runs in a T20I over.
The most runs scored in single over in a women’s T20 international is 52 conceded by Chile’s Florencia Martinez against Argentina in 2023.
