Zimbabwe shatters Nepal’s T20I record

Zimbabwe shattered the T20I world record surpassing the previous high of 314/3 made by Nepal against Mongolia last year in Hangzhou, China during Asian Games.

Zimbabwe posted 344/4 against the Gambia in Nairobi, Kenya on Wednesday during 2026 T20 World Cup subregional Africa qualifier and registered a 290-run win after bowling out them for 54 ion 14.4 overs, which is the largest win margin in the format.

Sikandar Raza smashed an unbeaten 133 in 43 balls. Raza hammered 15 sixes to score his maiden T20 International century in 33 deliveries and became the first player from Zimbabwe to make a ton in an international match in the format.

Raza also equaled Namibia’s Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton as the second-fastest in T20I cricket. Sahil Chauhan’s 27-ball hundred for Estonia against Cyprus in June remains the fastest T20I century.

Openers Brian Bennett (50) and Tadiwanashe Marumani (62) put on 98 for the first wicket from 34 balls, before Raza and Clive Madande (53 not out) smashed an unbeaten 141 in 40 deliveries for the fifth wicket.

Zimbabwe’s 27 sixes in the innings is also a record, edging Nepal by one.
