The Nepalese Women’s U19 team faced a narrow defeat against the West Indies in their first warm-up match of the ICC Women’s U19 T20 World Cup 2025, falling short by just nine runs.
Opting to bat first, West Indies Women’s U19 made 109/4 at the end of the alloted 20 overs. Samara Ramnath was the top scorer with 25 runs whereas Assab Callendar and Jahzara Claxton made 23 and 22 runs, respectively.
For Nepal, Seemana KC and Rachana Chaudhary picked up one wicket each with a healthy economy. The other two dismissal were run outs.
In response, Nepal were bowled out for 100 runs in 19.1 overs, falling short by just nine runs. Nepal were 54/6 in the 13th over as only Puja Mahato (18) and Sony Pakhrin (15) contributed at the top.
Kiran Kunwar and Seemana KC shared 30 runs for the seventh wicket, showing some hope but the partnership ended because of run out. For West Indies, Trisha Hardat, Aaliyah Weekes and Amiah Gilbert picked up two wickets each.
Nepal will play another warm-up match against USA Women’s U19 on January 15 before heading to the mega event.
