The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has announced the preliminary squad for the National Women’s U19 Cricket Team. A total of 29 players have been selected for the initial phase of the training camp, in preparation for the ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier.
The training camp is scheduled to take place in Lamahi, Dang from September 15 to September 30. CAN stated that the players selected were based on their performances in the U19 women’s tournaments, such as the Maiyadevi Cup in Chitwan and the Sushil Koirala Memorial in Kohalpur.
The squad features a wealth of young talent, including Puja Mahato, who has already played numerous matches for the senior team. She is joined by her sister, Aarti Mahato, as well as fellow players from Madhesh Province, Alisha Yadav and Sana Prabin. Promising all-rounder Sony Pakhrin is also in the lineup, along with her Bagmati teammates Krishma Gurung, Bipisha Shahi, and Manisha Upadhyaya. Several players from Sudurpaschim are also part of the squad, including Sneha Mahara, Anu Kadayat, and Sabitri Dhami.
The team includes Gandaki players Jyotsnika Marasini, Niru GT, Seemana KC, and Kusum Godar, while Aashma Pulami Magar and Sushmita Bhusal represent Lumbini Province. Karnali is represented by Kiran Kunwar and Trishna BK, and Koshi’s Riya Sharma is also part of the squad.
