The Patan High Court has acquitted cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane in the rape case.
Cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane has been acquitted by the bench of Judges Sudarshandev Bhatt and Anju Upreti Dhakal of the Patan High Court, overturning the decision of the Kathmandu District Court, according to spokesperson Bimal Parajuli.
On December 29, 2023, the Kathmandu District Court had found Lamichhane guilty of rape and sentenced him to eight years in prison.
Lamichhane is now available for the T20 World Cup squad after he was found innocent. However, Nepal has already announced the 15-player squad led by Rohit Paudel but with the ICC rule of allowing the teams to make changes to their squad until May 25 it is certain that Lamichhane might get picked.
