The Vancouver Knights, featuring Sandeep Lamichhane and Dipendra Singh Airee, secured their first victory in the 2024 Global T20 League Canada. They triumphed over the Montreal Tigers by five wickets, tasting their inaugural win of the campaign.
Vancouver is already out of the playoff race. They suffered a four-straight defeat to start the tournament.
Invited to bat first, Montreal was bowled out for just 109 runs in 19.2 overs. Sandeep Lamichhane picked up two wickets while the pick of a bowler was Mohammad Aamir with three wickets. Dipendra Singh Airee got only one over and was expensive in that.
Sandeep finished with a figure of 3.2-0-14-2:
First over – Five runs
Second over – Three runs
Third over – Four runs and a wicket (Azmat Omarzai)
Fourth over – Two runs and a wicket (Zahoor Khan)
Meanwhile, Airee bowled the seventh over, conceding 12 runs, and did not bowl again for the remainder of the match.
Vancouver chased down the target in 18.4 overs, losing five wickets. Reeza Hendricks was the top scorer with 39 runs, while Khawaja contributed 31. Dipendra Singh Airee came to bat in the penultimate over and faced two deliveries. He remained unbeaten on 0, with the final run being a leg bye.
