The opening day of the Prime Minister (PM) Cup 2025 featured thrilling cricketing action, with outstanding batting performances and impressive bowling displays. Being played across three venues in Lumbini Province, the tournament saw Lumbini Province, APF Club, and Karnali Province securing victories on the first day.
Here’s the round-up of Day 1:
Siddhartha Cricket Ground – Lumbini vs Koshi
Lumbini registered an interesting 26-run victory in a competitive game. Opting to bat first, Lumbini made 208 courtesy of Aakash Tripathi’s composed 66 runs. Samir Karki and Dipesh Kandel picked up three wickets each for Koshi.
In response, Koshi were bowled out for 182 despite being in a comfortable position at one stage. They were 153/3 at one stage but crumbled badly. Ajay Chauhan grabbed a five-wicket haul and Ramesh Kurmi picked up three wickets to seal the victory.
Extra Tech Oval Cricket Ground – APF vs Bagmati
APF Club registered a massive 100-run win despite being bowled out for just 174 runs. Bagmati conceded 50 extra runs whereas Sundeep Jora made crucial 37 runs. Rijan Dhakal grabbed a five-wicket haul whilst Nandan pocketed three wickets.
In response, Bagmati were bowled out for a mere 74 runs. Only one batter crossed a double-digit score while others were dismissed cheaply. Kamal Singh Airee picked up four wickets while Rohit Paudel and Amar Singh Routela grabbed two wickets each.
Lamahi Cricket Ground – Sudurpaschim vs Karnali
Karnali shows some domination against Sudurpaschim, bagging a comfortable 79-run win. Opting to bat first, Karnali made 155 runs before being bowled out. Arjun Gharti alone played a superb knock of 71 runs. For Sudurpaschim, Hemant Dhami picked up four wickets.
In reply, Sudurpaschim were bowled out for just 56 runs. Apart from Khadak Bohara, who made 27 runs, no other batters were able to do any special. Karnali’s Dipendra Rawat shone brightly and grabbed seven wickets alone (9-3-33-7). Diwan Pun also grabbed a couple of wickets.
