Madhesh Province made a sensational start to the PM Cup 2025, delivering a dominant performance with both bat and ball to secure a commanding 165-run victory over Koshi Province at Siddhartha Cricket Ground, Bhairahawa.
Choosing to bat first, Madhesh Province put up a solid total of 284/6 in their allotted 50 overs, with three batters scoring half-centuries. Anil Sah and Hari Shankar Sah (28) laid a strong foundation with an 87-run stand for the second wicket, as Anil played a run-a-ball knock of 75. Later, Pawan Sarraf and Dipesh Das propelled the innings with a crucial 123-run partnership for the fifth wicket. Pawan smashed 92 off 85 balls, hitting 11 fours and two sixes, while Dipesh, on his debut game for the Provincial team remained unbeaten on 56.
Bipin Mahato and Prakash Karki picked up two wickets each for Koshi.
In reply, Koshi were bundled out for just 119 runs in 33 overs, struggling against Madhesh’s formidable pace attack. Rupesh Singh and Rajesh Yadav set the tone early, each taking two wickets to dismantle Koshi’s top order. Rupesh delivered a stellar performance, finishing with figures of 9-0-29-5, while Rajesh claimed three wickets. None of the Koshi batters managed to build a substantial inning.
This is Koshi’s second consecutive defeat as Lumbini beat them in the previous game. Meanwhile, Madhesh start the campaign with a win.
