Gandaki edges Karnali in low-scoring thriller

Gandaki Province secured their first victory in the ongoing PM Cup, triumphing in a low-scoring thriller against Karnali Province with a four-wicket win at Deukhuri Cricket Ground, Lamahi.

Opting to bat first, Karnali were bundled out for just 91 runs in 27.2 overs. Four batters failed to open their accounts, with Bipin Shahi top-scoring with 20 runs. Arjun Gharti and Bipin Rawal contributed 17 and 15 runs, respectively.

Gandaki’s bowlers delivered an impressive performance, with Chandra Paudel, Bipin Khatri, and Subash Bhandari each taking two wickets.

In response, Gandaki chased down the target in 29.1 overs, despite a shaky start at 22/6. However, Dipak Dumre and Sujan Gautam steadied the innings with an unbeaten 73-run partnership to secure the win. Dumre remained unbeaten on 50 and was named Player of the Match, while Gautam contributed 22*

Karnali’s spinners dominated early on, but Gandaki staged a strong comeback. Diwan Pun impressed with three wickets, while Dipendra Rawat claimed two.

Both Karnali and Gandaki now have two points each after playing two matches.
