The defending champions Nepal Police Club are off to a winning start in the PM Cup 2025. Police Club defeated Lumbini Province by 87 runs at Extra Tech Oval to start the campaign.
Opting to bat first, the Police team set a solid total of 249/6 in their 50 overs. Kushal Bhurtel and Aarif Sheikh played key roles in the innings, both scoring half-centuries. Kushal contributed 59 runs, while Aarif added 56. Dilip Nath chipped in with 34 runs, and Gulshan Jha ended the innings strongly with a quickfire 36.
Krishna Karki and Ajay Chauhan picked up three wickets each for Lumbini Province.
In response, Lumbini Province batted through their full 50 overs but could only manage 162/9. Wicketkeeper-batter Prajjwol Thapa fought hard, scoring 72 runs with seven boundaries and one six. Mrinal Gurung contributed 30 runs, while the rest of the batters failed to make a significant impact.
For Police Club, Sagar Dhakal picked up three wickets whereas DS Airee and Lalit Rajbanshi pocketed two wickets each.
Lumbini faced defeat after starting their campaign with a win, while Police secured two points in their opening match.
