Skipper Gyanendra Malla hit his first half-century of the season as Bagmati produced an all-round effort to register their first win in the Kathmandu Mayor’s Cup on Tuesday at Tribhuvan International Cricket ground, Kirtipur.
Malla completed his half-century in 72 balls with six boundaries while batting first against Nepal Armed Police Club (APF). It was also his first fifty after playing two domestic tournaments. He top-scored with 57 from 84 balls with seven fours.
In the recently concluded Prime Minister Cup, his highest score was 47 runs against Army Club on Jan 28. He has scored 196 runs from eight domestic matches this season and managed one half-century.
Gyanendra has managed scores of 22(45) against Nepal Police, 17 (19) against Kathmandu Mayor’s XI, and 57(84) against Nepal APF Club in the current tournament.
Bagmati Province managed a fighting 233 for 6 after 50 overs and later won the match by 27 runs.
