Bhim Sharki, Bivek Yadav to Play for CYC Attariya in Arjun Trophy

The cricket hub of Dhangadhi is set to host the Arjun Trophy National T20 Championship from February 1 to 10. CYC Attariya, a team from Kailali, has signed four national players for the tournament.

The tournament will feature Bhim Sharki, Bibek Yadav, Shahab Alam, and Rashid Khan representing CYC Attariya.

Bhim, Sahab, and Rashid recently played for Kathmandu Gurkhas in the Nepal Premier League, while Bibek represented Lumbini Lions.

CYC Attariya has already signed four players under the “A” category and five players under the “B” category, making a total of nine players for the team. The “B” category players include Santosh Karki, Trit Das, Dipesh Kandel, Shankar Rana, and Sandeep Kshetri. Selection for the “C” category players is ongoing, and the team’s 14-member squad will be announced soon, according to coach Rajat Shahi.

The tournament is being held in memory of the late Arjun Khadka, a key figure in the development of cricket in Dhangadhi and Sudurpashchim Province. The Arjun Trophy will offer cash prizes totaling NPR 2 million. The T20-format tournament’s champion will receive NPR 1 million and a trophy, while the runner-up will earn NPR 500,000.

Additional prizes include NPR 100,000 for the player of the tournament, NPR 50,000 each for the best batsman, best bowler, and emerging player, and NPR 10,000 for the player of the match in every game.

The league-cum-knockout format tournament will take place at the Fapla International Cricket Ground in Dhangadhi.

Eight club teams from across the country will participate: DCA Dhangadhi, CYC Attariya, Cricket Excellence Center (CEC) Kathmandu, Friends Youth Club Dadeldhura, Ghodaghodi-11 Sukhad, New Horizon Butwal, Dasharath Chand Academy Baitadi, and Boston Cricket Jhapa.
