Madhesh Province has announced the preliminary squad for the Jay Trophy Men’s Elite Cup. Madhesh announced a 22-player squad under the captaincy of Harishankar Sah.
Anil Sah and Pawan Sarraf are the key absentees from the squad. Anil sustained an injury during the later stages of the Nepal Premier League (NPL), while Pawan is still recovering from his injury. Both players were instrumental in helping Madhesh secure fourth place in the PM Cup and qualify for the Jay Trophy.
Madhesh and Bagmati are two provincial teams that qualified for the historic tournament. Nepal Police Club and Tribhuwan Army Club are the other two teams competing in the tournament.
Madhesh boasts a lineup of talented young players, including the likes of Mayan Yadav, Ranjit Kumar, Rupesh Singh, and Abhishek Tiwari, all of whom have the potential to achieve big things.
Jay Trophy will start on 5th January. The matches will be held simultaneously in Janakpur and Parsa, with Madhesh facing Bagmati and Police clashing with Army on the opening day. The final is scheduled to take place in Parsa from January 14 to 16.
