Madhesh Province secured an effortless victory against Sudurpaschim Province in the ongoing KP Oli T20 Tournament. Dominating the first match on Monday, Madhesh clinched a comfortable eight-wicket win.
Despite securing a victory, Madhesh Province’s semifinal prospects are in doubt as Sudurpaschim would need to achieve a substantial win against the formidable Nepal Police Club, which appears unlikely. On Sunday, Madhesh suffered a 57-run loss against Police Club.
Sudurpaschim were wrapped up for a mere 58 runs in 15.5 overs after electing to bat first. They were in a pitiful situation of 31/8 in the 11th over, however, Naren Saud (18) and Bhojraj Bhatta (10) shared 26 26-run partnership for the ninth wicket to cross the 50-run mark.
For Madhesh, skipper Harishankar Shah was the standout bowler grabbing four wickets (4-0-11-4). Rupesh Singh also bagged three wickets.
In reply, Madhesh chased the target in just 4.4 overs losing only two wickets. They lost Harishankar Shah in the third ball, however, Anil Sah counter-attacked and scored 11-ball 25. Imran Sheikh and Pawan Sarraf remained unbeaten for 17 (nine balls) and 14 (five balls) respectively.
Gajendra Bohara grabbed both wickets for the losing side. Sudurpaschim will face Nepal Police Club in the first match of Tuesday.
