Tribhuwan Army Club (TAC) has dominated the first day against Madhesh Province in match number five of Jay Trophy 2081. TAC ended up on top at the end of the day after ensuring follow-on to Madhesh Province, bowling them out to a mere total.

Invited to bat first at Birgunj, the departmental side almost batted the allotted 60 overs in the first innings and made 225/9 before declaring the innings. They were 72/1 at one stage with Imran Sheikh scoring 42 runs. However, the Army found themselves in 96/5 after losing quick wickets.

Bhim Sharki and Basir Ahamad then shared 102 runs for the sixth wicket to bring the Army into a strong position. Bhim made 52 runs whilst Basir scored a brisk 67.

Ranjeet Kumar picked up a fifer for Madhesh and ended with a figure of 16.3-3-44-5. Pradeep Paswan also grabbed a couple of wickets.

In reply, Madhesh were bowled out for just 102 runs in 35.5 overs. Skipper Hari Shankar Sah scored 31, while the rest of the batters struggled to make significant contributions. Shahab Alam was the standout bowler for Army, claiming a six-wicket haul with figures of 12-5-37-6.

Army enforced a follow-on against Madhesh after they trailed by over 100 runs in the first innings. In 2-day cricket, a team trailing by more than 100 runs allows the opposing side to impose a follow-on. Madhesh ended the day at 2/0, having faced one over before stumps were called.
