Nepal Police Club tops points table to secure final spot in Jay Trophy

Nepal Police Club (NPC) registered a back-to-back win in the Jay Trophy 2081. They defeated Bagmati Province by five wickets in Janakpur to top the points table and secure a place in the final.

On the second day, Bagmati did well with the bat in the second innings and made 218 runs, securing a lead of 115 runs. Rit Gautam and Shubh Kansakar shared 109 runs for the second wicket but there was no significant partnership for the other wicket. Rit made 52 whereas Shubh scored a brisk 70 runs.

All six bowlers used picked up at least one wicket for Police with Lalit Rajbanshi being a pick of a bowler, grabbing three wickets.

NPC chased a target of 116 runs in 23 overs, losing five wickets in the process. Amit Shrestha delivered another remarkable performance with a half-century, while Kushal Bhurtel contributed a quick 32 off 19 balls. Shrestha was adjudged Player of the Match for his half-century in the both innings.

Bagmati, invited to bat first were bowled out for 112 runs in the first innings after a four-wicket haul from Lalit Rajbanshi. In response, NPC made 215 runs and took a 103-run lead.

Police finished first in the points table with 66 points. They will play against Tribhuwan Army Club in the final, which will be a three-day contest.
