Nepal Police Club (NPC) has established a solid 95-run lead over Bagmati Province at the close of the first day in the sixth group stage match of the Jay Trophy 2081, held in Janakpur.
Electing to field first, NPC bowled out Bagmati Province for just 112 runs in 33.2 overs. Police’s spinners were on fire as Lalit Rajbanshi grabbed four wickets and Kushal Bhurtel picked up two. Meanwhile, Sarwan Yadav who picked up three, took the first hat trick of the tournament. He dismissed Pratik Shrestha, Surya Tamang and Sandeep Lamichhane in the 27th over.
Ishan Pandey was Bagmati’s lone warrior. The opener made 71 runs before being dismissed obstructing the field. Apart from Pratik Shrestha (12), no other batters were able to cross the double-digit mark.
In response, NPC piled up 215 runs on the board and secured 103 runs lead before being bowled out in 45.5 overs. NPC were 35/3 but Amit Shrestha and Arjun Saud shared 148 runs stand to uplift their team’s inning. Amit made 79 while Arjun scored 77. Apart from that, no other batters made significant contributions.
For Bagmati, Sandeep Lamichhane picked up four wickets whereas Nandan Yadav and Pratish GC grabbed two wickets each.
Bagmati then got to bat four overs, before the stumps was called. They will come in the second day at 8/0 with a trail of 95 runs.
