Tribhuwan Army Club delivered a commanding performance against Bagmati Province on the first day of Match 4 in the Jay Trophy. Playing in Janakpur, the Army team concluded the day with an impressive 152-run lead.
Invited to bat first, Tribhuwan Army Club utilized their allotted 60 overs and posted a total of 276/5. Imran Sheikh formed a solid century opening stand with Trit Raj Daj (44) and followed it with a 54-run partnership with Bhim Sharki (32) for the second wicket. Sheikh displayed remarkable skill, scoring 72 runs. Bashir Ahmad took charge later, contributing an unbeaten 53 runs, while Kushal Malla added a valuable 35 runs to the total.
For Bagmati, Bipin Acharya stood out as the pick of the bowlers, claiming three wickets with figures of 13-1-45-3. Sandeep Lamichhane also took two wickets but conceded heavily, finishing with figures of 22-1-103-2.
In reply, Bagmati batted for 22 overs and ended the day at 124/5. The Army’s pace duo delivered an outstanding performance, claiming all five wickets. Aakash Chand took three, while Sompal Kami secured two.
Shubh Kansakar contributed a brisk 34 runs, while Uttam Thapa Magar and Rit Gautam scored 28 and 21 runs, respectively, before their dismissals. Nandan Yadav remains not out with 18 runs.
Army has managed 8 bonus points from day one whilst Bagmati accumulated 4.5 points.
