Nepal Police Club (NPC) secured a dominating victory over Madhesh Province in the Jay Trophy 2081, defeating them by an innings and 35 runs in Birgunj.
Nepal Police Club began the second day with a 45-run lead after concluding the first day at 174/3. They added 84 more runs before declaring their innings at 258/4 in 59 overs, one over short of the allocated overs. Aarif Sheikh remained unbeaten with 40 runs, while Shankar Rana contributed a quick 31. Kushal Bhurtel had already impressed with a fine half-century on the opening day.
Trailing by 129 runs, Madhesh were dismissed for just 94, resulting in a heavy defeat. Kushal Bhurtel shone with a five-wicket haul in a brief spell, while Gulshan Jha and Lalit Rajbanshi claimed three and two wickets, respectively. Bishal Patel was Madhesh’s top scorer with 27 runs, followed by Mayan Yadav with 22.
Earlier in the first day, Madhesh were bowled out for 129 runs. They were well placed at 99/2 at one stage but crumbled out losing eight wickets for 30 runs. Mayan Yadav scored 59 but Gulshan Jha grabbed a fifer to restrict Madhesh.
Nepal Police Club earned ten points for their victory after leading in the first innings, along with 15 bonus points from the match. Meanwhile, Madhesh secured only six bonus points.
You get 10 points if you win the match after leading the first innings. Meanwhile, teams get 0.5 bonus points for 25 runs scored and 0.5 bonus points for every wickets taken.
