Nepal’s losing streak extends to five consecutive defeats in the Women’s T20I Tri-Series. In match number seven of the tournament, the Netherlands secured a commanding 10-wicket victory over Nepal at the TU Cricket Ground.

Nepal, opting to bat first, set a competitive total of 145/4 in their allotted 20 overs. Their innings got off to a shaky start, losing both openers cheaply. However, Indu Barma and Puja Mahato steadied the innings with a crucial 78-run partnership for the third wicket. Indu contributed 39 runs before departing, while Puja carried on, adding another 40 runs alongside Rubina Chhetri for the fourth wicket. Puja remained unbeaten on 62, becoming Nepal’s first half-centurion in the Women’s T20I at TU Cricket Ground. Rubina Chhetri also chipped in with 20 runs.

Iris Zwilling was the standout bowler for the Netherlands, claiming two wickets. Skipper Babette de Leede excelled behind the stumps, playing a role in all four dismissals with two catches and two stumpings.

The Netherlands comfortably chased down the target in 19.4 overs without losing a wicket. Their openers put together an unbeaten 151-run partnership to secure victory. Sterre Kalis starred with an unbeaten 98 off 69 balls, smashing 11 fours and two sixes, finishing the match in style with a big six. Meanwhile, Phebe Molkenboer provided solid support with an unbeaten 48.

The Netherlands will face Thailand on Thursday, needing a dominant victory to stay in contention for the title. They must also hope that Nepal secures a big win against Thailand in the final match on Friday. Otherwise, Thailand will be crowned champions.
