Nepal secured their first victory in the Women’s T20I Quadrangular Series in Uganda, edging past the hosts by one wicket in a thrilling match to earn two crucial points.
With this victory, Nepal finally breaks their losing streak in T20I matches, securing a win after nine consecutive defeats.
Invited to bat first, Uganda were restricted to 75/7 in the allotted 20 overs. Puja Mahato and Indu Barma bowled exceptionally well to restrict the home side to a lower total. Puja picked up three wickets and ended with a figure of 4-1-14-3 while Indu Barma grabbed two wickets (4-1-8-2).
Immaculate Nakisuuyi top scored with a sluggish 22 runs whereas Stephani Nampiina made slow 14 runs.
In response, Nepal chased the target in 19.5 overs losing nine wickets. Sana Praveen, who made her T20I debut scored the highest 17 runs while Puja Mahato supported her well with 16 runs. Rubina Chhetri also made crucial ten runs.
Nepal started the series with a close defeat against Namibia in the first match. They will play against Hong Kong in the third match on March 10.
