Kathmandu – The meeting of Cricket Association of Nepal(CAN) held on Thursday has announced a 10 days practice tour to South Africa for the upcoming ICC World Cricket League Division II to be held in Namibia from 17 to 24 January 2015. Nepal along with five other teams will compete in that competition to get through to ICC Continental Cup.
The meeting has confirmed Diwakar Ghale as the team manager during the tour while Binod Das, the veteran fast bowler, and former Nepal Captain has been assigned as an Assistant Coach. Raman Shiwakoti will stay as a technical analyst while Dinesh Bhatta will travel as a Physio. The date is yet to be confirmed by CAN but Jan 3-15 is the most probable period.
Similarly, CAN has also announced to provide cash prize of NRs. 50000 to each members that successfully defended ICC World Cricket League Division III title earlier this year in Malaysia. Meanwhile, 18 members of the Nepali Senior team has been contracted as per the grading system developed by CAN. The grading system is yet to be disclosed by CAN.
The meeting also finalized a grant of Rs.5000 per month for each Regional team and a new initiation of appointing a Development officer in each region is being taken. The press release , however, didn’t mention about the expiration of the contract with Standard Chartered.
