Nepal faced their third consecutive defeat in the ongoing Women’s T20I Tri-Series on Sunday, as the Netherlands secured a 15-run victory at the TU Cricket Ground.
Choosing to bat first, the Netherlands posted 140/9 in their allotted 20 overs. They started strong, with Phebe Molkenboer contributing a solid 21 runs. Captain Babette de Leede played a crucial anchor role, scoring 41, while Heather Siegers and Robin Rijke added valuable 26 and 21 runs, respectively. At 131/4 after 17 overs, the Netherlands seemed poised for a bigger total, but they managed only nine more runs in the final three overs, losing five wickets in the process.
Chasing a target of 141, Nepal managed 125/8 in their allotted 20 overs, falling 15 runs short. None of the batters could produce a quick, big innings. Indu Barma top-scored with 30, while opener Samjhana Khadka contributed 23. Puja Mahato added 18 runs, and Kabita Joshi chipped in with 14.
For the Dutch side, Iris Zwilling, Caroline de Lange, and Heather Siegers took two wickets each. Heather Siegers was named Player of the Match for her all-round performance.
Nepal will play against Thailand on Tuesday in the fourth game.
