Nepal has suffered a defeat in the first match of the Women’s T20I Quadrangular series in Uganda. Nepal faced a six-wicket defeat against Namibia in a rain halted clash.

Chasing a target of 93 runs, Namibia were at 39/1 after eight overs when rain interrupted the match. Following the delay, the revised target required Namibia to score 71 runs in 15 overs, which they successfully achieved in 14.5 overs.

Mekelanye Mwatile scored 35 runs whereas Jurriene Diergaardt hammered quick 13 runs at the end to seal the deal. Indu Barma, Ishwari Bist, Kabita Joshi and Puja Mahato picked up one wicket each.

Earlier, Nepal posted 92 runs in the allotted 20 overs after opting to bat first. Opener Samjhana Khadka was the highest scorer with 18 runs whereas number ten batter, Ishwari Bist hammered 17 runs at the end. There was no special contribution in between.

Wilka Mwatile and Mekelanye Mwatile picked up three wickets each for Namibia.

Nepal will play against the host Uganda in the second match on March 9.
