The Nepalese women’s team have registered a historic win against UAE in the opening game of the ACC Women’s Asia Cup 2024. This was Nepal’s first-ever win in the tournament history.
The 2024 edition marks Nepal’s third appearance in the Women’s Asia Cup, following their participation in 2012 and 2016. However, they have yet to secure a victory in their eight previous games.
Nepal restricted the UAE to 115 and then successfully chased down the target in 16.1 overs, securing a six-wicket victory thanks to a scintillating 72* off 45 balls from Samjhana Khadka.
In 2012, Nepal was in Group B alongside Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and China. They failed to register a single win as China also stunned Nepal.
In 2016, all six participating teams played against each other. Although Nepal didn’t manage a single win in five matches. Nepal played against India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Thailand in that edition.
Finally, in the ninth contest, Nepal managed to bag a win. They are yet to play against Pakistan and India on July 21 and 23 respectively.
