Nepal is gearing up to face Pakistan in their second match of the ACC Women’s Asia Cup. Following a dominant victory over UAE in the opening game, Nepal aims to surprise Pakistan and secure a spot in the semifinals.
India’s comfortable win over UAE ensures that if Nepal manages to defeat Pakistan, they will secure a place in the semifinals. But the task is not easy for Nepal women.
This will be the first-ever encounter between Nepal and Pakistan in Women’s T20 Internationals. Although they have played against each other before, Nepal did not have T20I status at that time.
Nepal had been winless in the ACC Women’s Asia Cup until this edition. In their two previous appearances in the tournament, in 2012 and 2016, Nepal played eight matches but failed to secure a victory. However, they had a brilliant start in this tournament defeating UAE.
Meanwhile, Pakistan is also searching for their first win after suffering a defeat against India in the first match.
In the 2016 Asia Cup, Nepal faced a heavy defeat against Pakistan. After electing to bat first, the Nepalese side was bowled out for 47. In response, Pakistan chased down the target in 10 overs, winning by nine wickets.
