Manoj Prabhakar steps down as Nepal Men’s National Cricket Team’s Head Coach

Manoj Prabhakar officially resigned from the position of Nepal Men’s National Cricket Team’s Head Coach on Thursday. There were news from the source that Prabhakar had already departed for India a few days back. The resignation of Prabhakar has been accepted by the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN).

The head coach was asked to resign by CAN on Sunday, but he did so on Thursday after arriving in India. There were quite a few complaints from the players and manager about Prabhakar.

Prabhakar consistently received criticism because of his aggressive nature. It is believed that he had a big argument with Sheikh brothers (Aarif and Aasif) during the Kenya tour, his first tour after taking the role. He then dropped either Aarif or Aasif in quite a few matches. He also hinted there are quarrels among the teammates themselves.

Moreover, he was criticised for his team selection and messy line-up. He dropped allrounder Aadil Aalam, only played one of Sompal or Karan and also made Kushal Bhurtel bat at number seven.

Nepal played seven ODI matches under Prabhakar and won only two matches. He started his tenure with a 3-2 T20I series win over Kenya, followed by a 3-0 win in the One Day matches. Last month, Nepal defeated UAE 2-1 in the home series after losing the first match. Recently Nepal were winless in the Namibia tour under ICC CWC League 2 matches.
