The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has unveiled the Nepal Women’s Squad as well as the schedule for the Uganda Tour. Regular captain Indu Barma will lead the 14-player squad with few new faces in the squad.
Nepal Women is set to compete against Uganda, Namibia and Hong Kong in a quadrangular series to be played in Uganda. The series which starts on March 8 will be played in the double round robin format. The top two teams after playing six matches in the group stage will face each other in the final on March 16 whereas the third and fourth-placed teams will fight in a third-place game on the same day.
Nepal has announced a young squad for this series. The u19 stars – Riya Sharma and Sana Praveen have been included in the squad for the first time. Rachana Chaudhary, Alisha Yadav and Ishwari Bista have also kept their place. Meanwhile, Manisha Kumari Upadhyaya who was exceptional during the home Tri-Series against Thailand and the Netherlands misses out on the squad.
Similarly, two experienced campaigners – Sita Rana Magar and Kabita Kunwar are not in the squad. Kabita suffered a back injury during the home Tri-Series whilst Sita also had an injury concern.
