The Kathmandu Gurkhas achieved a decisive six-wicket victory over the Pokhara Avengers in the 24th match of the Nepal Premier League 2024-25 at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur on Saturday.
After opting to bat first, the Pokhara Avengers posted a total of 138 for 8 in their allotted 20 overs. Opener Dinesh Kharel led the scoring with a brisk 38 off 25 balls, including six boundaries. Raymon Reifer provided a late surge with an unbeaten 41 off 30 deliveries, featuring three fours.
Kathmandu’s bowling attack was spearheaded by Rashid Khan, who claimed 3 wickets for 43 runs, and Karan KC, who took 3 for 24.
Chasing a target of 139, the Gurkhas reached 142 for 4 in just 14.1 overs. Stephen Eskinazi was instrumental in the chase, scoring a rapid 60 off 34 balls. He was well-supported by Michael Levitt, who contributed 32 off 18 deliveries. Gerhard Erasmus added an unbeaten 25 off 10 balls to seal the victory.
For Pokhara, Bipin Khatri was the standout bowler, taking 3 wickets for 19 runs.
This victory strengthens Kathmandu’s position in the league standings, while Pokhara will need to reassess their strategies in upcoming matches.
