The hosts Classic College ´A´ and Pentagon have secured their semifinal spots in the Spice Classic T20 Inter-college Cricket Tournament winning their respective matches on Saturday.
Classic defeated St Lawrence by nine wickets and Pentagon beat Cyprus by the same margin in the quarterfinals held at the TU Cricket Ground, Kirtipur. Both the teams were undefeated in their league round.
In the first match, Rahul Pratap Singh´s four wickets haul helped Classic restrict St Lawrence to just 84 runs. Milan Thapa scored not out 23 runs for St Lawrence but that was not enough to guide the team to a good position. Naresh Budhayer grabbed three wickets while Krishna Karki took two for Classic.
The hosts reached the target in just 7.5 overs at the cost of one wicket. Binod Bhandari and Naresh Budhayer guided them to the comfortable victory. Bhandari was not out in the ground with 39 runs off 22 balls while Budhayer was on four runs. Sagar Pun scored 38 runs off 18 balls before being out. Hemant Acharya was able to grab only wicket of Classic.
In another match, tight bowling from Pentagon restricted Cyprus to 47 runs off 14.3 overs. Shakti Bhandari took three wickets in his four overs spell conceding 19 runs. Binod Lama took two wickets while Binod Chhetri grabbed a wicket.
Pentagon reached the target of 48 in just 4.4 overs losing a wicket. Bhandari scored 19 runs off 16 balls to guide the team to semifinal.
