Sandeep Lamichhane produced a good all-around performance in the opening game of Global T20 League Canada 2024. However, his side Vancouver Knights suffered a 8-wicket defeat against the Toronto Nationals.
Invited to bat first, Vancouver Knights were bowled out for just 110 runs in 19.3 overs. Coming to bat at no.9, Lamichhane scored vital 15 runs for his team. He scored three boundaries in a nine-ball knock. He shared a crucial 24 runs partnership with Yuvraj Samra for the eighth wicket.
Canadian leggie Junaid Siddiqui picked up four wickets to bowl out Vancouver to a low total.
In reply, Toronto reached the target without any hiccups in just 14.4 overs, losing only two wickets. Sandeep Lamichhane and Paul van Meekeran picked up one wicket each. Lamichhane dismissed Unmukt Chand and ended with a figure of 4-0-29-1.
Dipendra Singh Airee and Rohit Paudel could have played in the same match, but both faced visa issues and couldn’t make it to the first game. Airee plays for the Vancouver Knights alongside Lamichhane, while Paudel represents the Toronto Nationals.
