Skipper Rohit Paudel managed to bring up his eighth half-century in the 34th ODI match in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 for Nepal against UAE at the TU cricket ground on Sunday.
Paudel arrived at the crease after the early dismissal of both the openers for 12 runs, Kushal Bhurtel made 8 runs while Aasif Sheikh was dismissed without troubling the scorers.
Rohit and Bhim Sharki then consolidated the innings and managed a 50-run partnership for the fourth wicket.
It took 83 balls, but Rohit looked fairly comfortable after the initial nervous period. His third half-century against the opponent included seven boundaries.
Paudel played a captain’s knock to rescue the team from 12-2 to 162 runs but was eventually dismissed for 77 runs off 112 balls. Aayan Afzal Khan removed him after managing nine boundaries and putting two 50-runs partnership for the fourth and fifth wicket.
