The Nepalese U19 Team has secured a place in the semifinal of the ACC U19 Premier Cup. They thrashed Saudi Arabia by a mammoth 302 runs on Thursday at YSD UKM Oval to top Group A.
Nepal posted a massive score of 347/8 after being invited to bat first. Arjun Kumal scored a brilliant century to help Nepal post a humungous total.
Arjun scored 143 runs from 111 balls, hammering 17 fours and two sixes. This is the highest score by a Nepalese batter at any level. Moreover, Aakash Tripathi scored 89 runs from 98 balls. Bishal Bikram KC notched up 18-ball 24 at the end.
For Saudi Arabia, Muhammad Ahmad Raza, Abdullah Shiraz and Ghayour Ahmad picked up two wickets each.
In response, Saudi Arabia were bundled out for a mere 46 runs in 19.1 overs. Dipesh Kandel once again was the pick of a bowler for Nepal, grabbing a six-wicket haul. This is his second consecutive six-wicket haul in the ongoing ACC U19 Premier Cup.
He ended up with a figure of 9.1-0-18-6. Akash Chand also grabbed two wickets whilst Subash Bhandari pocketed one.
Varun Saravanan Mudaliar (11) was the only batter to cross the double-digit figure for Saudi Arabia. Three batters were dismissed for a duck.
UAE and Singapore also secured a place in the semifinal from Group B and C, respectively. One among, Japan, Hong Kong or Malaysia will secure a place in the semifinal from Group D. Nepal will face the semifinalist team from Group D in the first semi-final match on October 21.
