Nepal U19 continued their impressive form in the ICC U19 World Cup Asia Qualifier with a dominant 8-wicket victory over Oman at Upper Mulpani, registering their second consecutive win in the tournament.
After edging past UAE by 5 runs in their opening match at Lower Mulpani, Nepal produced a more convincing performance against Oman, which also gave a healthy boost to their Net Run Rate. Invited to bat first, Oman looked steady at 100/4 but suffered a dramatic collapse to be bundled out for just 117 runs. Jeet Vrajesh Shah top-scored with 52 but found no support from the other end.
Nepal’s bowling was led by a sensational spell from Yuvraj Khatri, who claimed 5 wickets for just 15 runs in 7 overs. Santosh Yadav chipped in with two wickets to help wrap up the Omani innings.
Chasing a modest target, Nepal’s openers came out with intent. Niraj Kumar Yadav hammered 46 off 31 balls, while Sahil Patel added 44 runs, putting Nepal on course for a swift chase. Contributions from Naren (12*) and Santosh (10*) helped Nepal reach the target in just 14.3 overs, losing only two wickets.
With two wins from two, Nepal now gear up for their next fixture against Hong Kong on April 16 at Lower Mulpani, looking to maintain their unbeaten streak.
