Nepal U19 secures a win over Delhi U19 to lead the series 1-0

The Nepal U19 cricket team has taken a 1-0 lead in a three-match series against the Delhi U19 team. In the opening match of the series, Nepal’s U19 secured a decisive five-wicket victory over Delhi U19 in Narayani Cricket Ground, Birgunj.

Delhi U19, batting first, struggled against Nepal’s disciplined bowling attack and were bowled out for a modest 95 runs in 23.2 overs despite being 49/0 at one stage. Opener Sathak Pal contributed 29 runs off 29 balls, including four boundaries and a six, while Shantanu Yadav and Aaditya Bhandari added 13 runs each. The rest of the batting lineup failed to make significant contributions.

Cibrin Shrestha and Aparajit Poudel impressed with three wickets each. Similarly, Bipin Sharma and Ashok Dhami also grabbed two wickets each.

Chasing a target of 96 runs, Nepal U19 achieved victory in 31 overs, losing five wickets. The batting lineup displayed composure and determination despite being 0/2 in the second over, ensuring a win to start the series on a positive note. Amar Mishra made 27 whereas Roshan BK hammered 25 runs. Earlier Naren Bhatta (18 from 76 balls) and Cibrin Shrestha (17) stabilized the inning. 

The second match of the series will be played on March 27.

Following the matches against Delhi U19, Nepal U19 will also take on Afghanistan U19 in another three-match series.
