The Nepalese national women’s team are one step closer to the ACC Women’s Asia Cup. Nepal secured a place in the semifinal of ACC Women’s Premier Cup after defeating Kuwait in the rain-halted match.
Nepal will now face Malaysia in the semifinal. Top two teams from the ACC Women’s Premier Cup are confirmed to book a place in the Asia Cup.
In a quarterfinal match at Bangi, Kuwait women were restricted to 73/9 in the allotted 20 overs. After a rain delay, the revised target was 50 runs in 12 overs.
Nepal chased the target in 6.5 overs losing two wickets to confirm their place in the top four. Indu Barma top-scored with 21-ball 22*. Sita Rana Magar scored 17 runs whereas Kabita Joshi smacked a boundary in a single ball.
Earlier in the first inning, Kuwait were restricted to 73/9 in 20 overs. Balasubramani Shanti and Khadija Khalil scored 13 runs each. For Nepal, Sita Rana Magar was the pick of bowler grabbing three wickets (4-0-11-3). Kabita Kunwar (4-0-9-2) and Rubina Chhetri (4-1-10-2) also picked up two wickets each.
