Kathmandu – Pubudu Dassanayake, the former Coach of Nepal Cricket team is likely to return Nepal to join the team but for a short span of time according to Kantipur National Daily.
As per the ICC Calendar, Nepal is playing two matches against Namibia for their third round of ICC World Cricket League Championship to be held in April 16 and 18. Dassanayake is likely to stay with Nepal team and continue his coaching duty for atleast couple of weeks writes Kantipur Daily.
On November 2015, Dassanayake resigned from the post before the matches against PNG and returned to his home country – Canada after the matches was over.
Meanwhile, Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) is yet to find a full time coach due to their internal conflict of having two different boards. Bandula Warnapura, the ICC’s Asia Development Manager indicated about Dassanayake’s return to Nepal.
“We tried to contact him few days earlier and received a positive message”, Warnapura told Kantipur. “If he is available, we will try to bring him but he is available from April 3 and if the governing bodies in Nepal agrees and provide the financial support then we are ready to bring him here”, he further added.
Warnapura is currently in Nepal to inspect the status of Tribhuvan University Ground where Nepal is likely to host Namibia for two matches of ICC World Cricket League Championship.
Nepal has already lost its four matches to Scotland and PNG and are currently placed at the bottom of Eight team championship tournament.
