Nepal team lost their second consecutive match, today against Bangladesh Under-19s in the ACC Under-19 Asia Cup with a five-wicket victory, held at the ICC Academy Ground in Dubai.

Winning the toss, Bangladesh elected to bowl first, and the decision paid off immediately. Nepal’s top order crumbled under relentless pressure from the Bangladeshi bowlers. Despite the early setbacks, middle-order batter Arjun Kumal tried to stabilize the innings with a fighting 47 off 84 balls, including five boundaries.

Nepal’s inability to forge meaningful partnerships cost them dearly. After Kumal’s dismissal, the lower order collapsed, with wickets tumbling in quick succession.

Raiyan Rahman was the pick of the bowlers for Bangladesh, claiming 3 wickets for 19 runs, while Mohammad Rahat and Sajidur Rahman chipped in with two wickets each.

Nepal managed to post a total of just 141 runs in 42.2 overs, leaving Bangladesh with a modest target.

Chasing 142, Bangladesh started steadily, but Nepal struck early to dismiss Raihan Ahmed for 10. However, opener Moinul Islam anchored the innings with a solid 42 off 68 balls, including five boundaries. The middle-order batters, including Rahat Hossain (35 off 41) and Sajidur Rahman (21*), ensured that there were no hiccups in the chase.

Nepal’s bowlers showed grit, with Dipesh Kandel picking up two crucial wickets and Avinash Bohara maintaining pressure with a tidy spell, but the target proved too small to defend. Bangladesh crossed the finish line in 28.4 overs, scoring 142 for 5 with 128 balls to spare.
