Sony Pakhrin bagged her maiden National T20 five-wicket haul to help Bagmati Province Women’s team register an 8-wicket win over Sudur Paschim Province on the second match of the 9th National games at Pokhara Ranghsala today.
Put into bat, Sudurpashchim got off to a good start with the openers Rubi Poddar and Bindu Rawal on 22 runs in 6 overs. Anu Kadayat also showed good intent too with a brisk 22 runs off 23 balls, including two boundaries. However, they were bundled out for just 71 runs in 18.2 overs, thanks to Sony Pakhrin’s five-fer.
Pakhrin grabbed three wickets in an over (second over), dismissing Bindu Rawal (6.2), Sabitri Dhami (6.3), and Yashoda Bist (6.6). In her third over, she dismissed Ritu Kanoujiya, who made 3 off 5 balls and completed her spell with a wicket of Dolly Bhatta 2(7). Khushi Dangol was also rewarded with two scalps.
In reply, Bagmati Province Women’s openers Ashmita Kharel and Kanchan Shrestha made a solid start. The duo put up a partnership of 47 runs in 10.4 overs. Shrestha top scored with 25(44) before getting run out. Suman Khatiwada and Aarati Bidari closed the chase with an unbeaten 11 and 3 respectively at 13.1 overs.
Pakhrin was adjudged Player of the Match.
