Pace bowler, Sompal Kami, will not be available for Nepal’s second match in the Cricket World Cup Qualifier 2023. Nepal is set to play against the USA on Tuesday starting from 12:45 PM NST.
Sompal sustained an injury in their eight-wicket loss during Nepal’s eight-wicket loss against Zimbabwe in the tournament opener. In the 34th over, Sompal had to leave the field after his right-hand thumb was struck by Sean William’s shot. Aarif Sheikh took charge of the remaining three deliveries of the over.
Sompal picked up the first wicket against Zimbabwe in the previous match. As Kami will be absent for the upcoming match, either Pratish GC or Lalit Rajbanshi will most likely be chosen to replace him in the playing XI since Kishore Mahoto did not make it to the final 15-man squad.
Lalit Rajbanshi is currently in excellent form, and due to the USA’s struggle against spin bowling, he emerges as the leading candidate to replace Sompal.
