Nepal’s first-ever ODI match against India is likely to be interrupted by rain. Nepal is set to play against India in their second match of Asia Cup 2023.
A much-anticipated match between India and Pakistan was also halted by rain on September 2. Both teams shared a point as the match was called off after the first inning due to persistent rain.
Rain abandoned the India-Pakistan clash, which set up the India-Nepal match as a knockout showdown. The winner between the two sides will qualify for the Super 4 stage. Meanwhile, the abandonment will take India ahead.
Persistent rainfall in Pallekele since yesterday has sparked worries about the match’s destiny. The weather forecasts for the area haven’t provided much comfort for cricket fans, with Google Weather indicating an 80% likelihood of rain and thunderstorms in Pallekele, Kandy, on the day when the India-Nepal clash is scheduled.
Given the current situation, there’s a significant risk of the entire match being cancelled due to the rain. The match starts at 3:15 PM (NST) at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium.
Nepal faced a massive 238-run defeat against Pakistan in the first match of the tournament. Nepal were wrapped up to their second-lowest ODI total (104) in front of a rigid Pakistan bowling attack.
