The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has officially announced the schedule for the national team’s upcoming tour of the United Kingdom, which will serve as preparation for the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 (CWCL2) series in Scotland.
This UK tour marks the first overseas assignment under Nepal’s new head coach, Stuart Law. The team will play a total of six matches in England and Scotland, starting from May 16. The tour will begin with a one-day match against Cardiff University in Cardiff, followed by a 50-over match against the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) on May 19 at Herefordshire.
Nepal will then play two T20 matches against Gloucestershire on May 22, before facing Glamorgan in another ODI on May 26. Both Gloucestershire and Glamorgan are strong county sides, having so many big-name players.
After completing the England leg of the tour, Nepal will travel to Scotland, where they are scheduled to play two one-day matches against Scotland ‘A’ on May 29 and May 31.
This tour is seen as a crucial part of Nepal’s preparation for the CWCL2 tri-series against hosts Scotland and the Netherlands, which will be held from June 2 to 12. Following the League 2 series, Nepal will also participate in a T20 series against the same opponents.
Currently, a Core Camp match between four teams (Red, Yellow, Blue and Green) is underway in Nepal to finalise the squad for the UK tour and upcoming international fixtures. This tour will provide valuable match experience and help the team adjust to UK conditions ahead of the important CWCL2 matches.
