The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) bids farewell to the national cricket team on Wednesday as they leave for their UK tour.
The farewell program was held at the CAN office in Mulpani. The tour marks an important preparation phase for Team Nepal ahead of their upcoming international fixtures.
Nepal will first play practice matches in England to improve their performance and get used to the playing conditions. After that, the team will go to Scotland to play against Scotland and the Netherlands.
This tour marks the first assignment under Nepal’s new head coach, Stuart Law. The team will play a total of six matches in England and Scotland, starting from May 16. The tour will begin with a one-day match against Cardiff University in Cardiff, followed by a 50-over match against the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) on May 19 at Herefordshire.
Nepal will then play two T20 matches against Gloucestershire on May 22, before facing Glamorgan in another ODI on May 26. Both Gloucestershire and Glamorgan are strong county sides, having so many big-name players.
After completing the England leg of the tour, Nepal will travel to Scotland, where they are scheduled to play two one-day matches against Scotland ‘A’ on May 29 and May 31, before competing in CWC League 2 series.
Nepal is currently at the bottom of the CWC League 2 table with only 6 points from 12 matches. This makes the upcoming series very important in improving their total points.
Following the conclusion of the League 2 series, Nepal will remain in Scotland to participate in a T20I Tri-Series.
Nepal’s Squad:
Rohit Paudel (c), Aasif Sheikh, Kushal Bhurtel, Anil Kumar Sah, Bhim Sharki, Aarif Sheikh, Basir Ahamad, Gulshan Kumar Jha, Dipendra Singh Airee, Sandeep Lamichhane, Sompal Kami, Karan KC, Lalit Narayan Rajbanshi, Nandan Yadav, Rijan Dhakal
