Nepal continued their impressive form in the UK preparatory series with a commanding 50-run victory over Glamorgan 2nd XI in the DLS method on Sunday. The win adds momentum to Nepal’s buildup for the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup (CWC) League 2 matches.

After being invited to bat first, Nepal posted a solid total of 294/7 in their allotted 50 overs. The innings was anchored by an excellent knock from Bhim Sharki, who top-scored with a fluent 92 off 80 balls. Skipper Rohit Paudel continued his fine touch with 61, while Dipendra Singh Airee provided the late surge with an unbeaten 49 from just 33 balls. Lower-order contributions from Gulshan Jha (24 off 14) and steady starts from openers Kushal Bhurtel (20) and Aasif Sheikh (30) helped lay a solid platform.

Rain interrupted the chase, reducing Glamorgan’s innings to 34 overs. The side faltered under pressure and were bundled out for 182 in 30.4 overs. Nepal’s bowling unit put on a disciplined display, with Kushal Bhurtel impressing with figures of 4 wickets. Nandan Yadav chipped in with two scalps, while Gulshan Jha, Sandeep Lamichhane, Rohit Paudel, and Sompal Kami shared one wicket apiece.

Despite valiant efforts from Hurle (42), and Byrom and McIlroy (31 each), Glamorgan could not mount a serious challenge to the revised target.

Nepal will next face Scotland A in two matches on May 29 and 31, as they continue their preparations for the crucial CWC League 2 fixtures ahead.
