Nepal kicked off their Quadrangular T20I Series campaign in style with a commanding eight-wicket victory over Qatar in the opening match.
Chasing a modest target of 152, the Nepali batting unit made light work of the chase, reaching the goal in just 17 overs while losing only two wickets.
Nepal got off to a flying start thanks to an aggressive opening partnership between Kushal Bhurtel and Aasif Sheikh. Bhurtel blazed his way to 38 off just 19 balls, earning him the Player of the Match award, while Aasif added 33 runs at the top. The momentum carried on with Rohit Paudel (37*) and Basir Ahamad (30*) finishing the game unbeaten, guiding Nepal to a comfortable win with three overs to spare.
Earlier, after being put in to bat first, Qatar posted 151/5 in their allotted 20 overs. Ikramullah Khan anchored the innings with a composed 54 off 54 balls, while Shahzaib Jamil contributed 31. A late flourish from Mohamed Irshad, who scored a brisk 18, helped Qatar push past the 150-run mark.
For Nepal, Karan KC, Sompal Kami, Gulshan Jha, Nandan Yadav and Lalit Rajbanshi picked up one wicket each.
With this victory, Nepal have set the tone for the rest of the tournament. They will next face Kuwait on April 10.
