The 19-year-old sensation accomplished this remarkable feat in just 34 balls, eclipsing the previous joint record held by India’s Rohit Sharma, South Africa’s David Miller, and the Czech Republic’s S Wickramasekara (35 balls).
Malla notched up a half-century in just 19 balls before reaching the figure in only 15 more deliveries. His incredible innings saw him finish unbeaten with a staggering 137 runs from 50 balls, including eight boundaries and an astounding 12 sixes. This remarkable performance also sets a new record for the highest individual score by a Nepalese batter in T20I cricket.
After achieving the remarkable feat, Malla joins the elite club of Nepalese players who have scored centuries in both ODIs and T20Is, alongside the likes of Paras Khadka, Dipendra Singh Airee, and Kushal Bhurtel.
Nepal’s batting fireworks didn’t stop there, as they amassed a colossal total of 314/3 in their allotted 20 overs. Dipendra Singh Airee whacked a world-record 10-ball 52*, while Rohit Paudel chipped in with a quickfire 27-ball 61 runs.
In the end, Nepal secured an emphatic 273-run victory, setting a new record for the largest-ever win in T20I history in terms of runs.
