In the opening match of the Nepal Premier League 2024, the Janakpur Bolts secured a commanding 8-wicket victory over the Biratnagar Kings at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur. Chasing a modest target of 128, the Bolts reached 131 for 2 in just 15.3 overs.
The standout performance came from Lahiru Milantha, who was named Player of the Match for his unbeaten 75 off 53 balls, featuring nine fours and three sixes. He was well-supported by Harsh Thaker, who contributed 29 not out.
Earlier, the Biratnagar Kings struggled against a disciplined bowling attack, managing only 127 runs. New Zealand’s Martin Guptill was the only batter, who managed the first half-century (55) off 43 balls. Chris Sole was the most successful bowler for the Kings, taking 1 wicket for 31 runs in his 3 overs.
This victory gives the Janakpur Bolts a strong start in the tournament, while the Biratnagar Kings will need to regroup ahead of their next match.
